March 1st DEADLINES!

(1) Early bird registration fee of $375 for the TODOS 2018 Conference ends on March 1st. Beginning March 2nd, the fee increases to $400. Register today! (2) Apply for the Cathy Kinzer Memorial Professional Development Award to attend the TODOS 2018 Conference by March 1st. (3) The last day to submit a nomination for the Iris M. Carl Equity and Leadership Award is March 1st. Don’t delay!

TODOS 2018 Conference Innovate Sessions

Learn more about the sessions at the TODOS 2018 Conference! As part of the schedule, 20 Innovate Sessions will be presented. These sessions provide opportunities to share innovative and effective ideas, strategies, or resources that will influence practice in PreK-12 classrooms, professional development settings for teachers or leaders, or teacher education programs.

Winter 2018 Noticias

The Winter 2018 Issue of Noticias has been posted in the members’ area of the TODOS Website. Login on the TODOS Website, go to Publications and select Current TEEM, Noticias, Enews. You will find the current issue of Noticias in addition to the current issues of TEEM and Enews. TODOS welcomes the new co-editors of Noticias: Laura McLeman and Eugenia Vomvoridi-Ivanovic. This is their first issue as editors.

Attending NCSM/NCTM? Work the TODOS Booth!

TODOS will have an exhibit booth at both NCSM and NCTM, plus a table at the TODOS Salsa Party. Volunteer to staff the booth (#159) for two or more hours. TODOS Strand at NCTM in Washington, D.C. this April

TODOS was invited to participate in the Equity Strand at the NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition this April in Washington, D.C. Many proposals were submitted to be part of the TODOS strand, and five of them were selected. Go to the TODOS Strand Sessions at NCTM 2018 for the list of titles, speakers, day, times, and location. Support your colleagues. Please add these sessions to your conference planner and support your colleagues.

NCSM Pre-Conference in April 2018

Attend a NCSM Pre-Conference Session! One session, Using Equity & Social Justice to Build Mathematics Leadership, is led by NCSM and TODOS leaders. A goal is for participants to engage in rich content (mathematical and social justice content), explicitly designed to illustrate the transformation needed for learning environments, instructional practices, and systemic forces in mathematics education.

March Webinar for January/February Reading

The second webinar from the Collective Call to Action will be held Wednesday, March 14th at 7:30 PM ET. It will be organized around the five principles of courageous leadership in Excellence through Equity, focusing on the supporting work and thinking of teachers, teacher leaders, and educators to guide student achievement. The webinar will incorporate questions and dialogue between the participants and speakers. Go to A Collective Call to Action for details and registration to register.

A Collective Call to Action: March-April 2018

The March and April reading is Teaching Mathematics for Social Justice: Conversations with Educators, edited by Anita A. Wager and David W. Stinson. The targeted questions are the following: How might teachers begin to teach mathematic for social justice? How might teacher educators begin to teach teachers how to teach mathematics for social justice? How might teaching mathematics for social justice “look like?” How can mathematics be re-envisioned as a means to create a more socially just world?

Our Stories, Our Struggles, Our Strengths

The Education Trust published the results of their project in the article Our Stories, Our Struggles, Our Strengths, Perspectives and Reflections from Latino Teachers. The article is a deep dive into better understanding the unique experiences of Latino teachers: why they teach, what they believe they bring to the classroom and the field, and what challenges they face in the workplace because of their race/ethnicity. A Collective Call to Action: January-February 2018

Did you read Excellence Through Equity: Five Principles of Courageous Leadership to Guide Achievement for Every Student?  Courage is an essential human virtue, and the book discusses how courageous leadership is the “engine that drives the paradigm shift.” Participate in the March Webinar.
