TODOS 2020 Conference Registration Opens Soon

Early registration for the TODOS 2020 Conference will open on November 1st. The link to the registration will be on the conference website. Individuals can register for the conference ($375) or for the TODOS Preconference ($150). Those who wish to attend both should register for the Conference and add the Preconference to the registration form for a total of $475 ($50 discount) . Encourage your friends and colleagues to register!

Thinking about Attending the TODOS 2020 Conference?

Registration for the TODOS 2020 Conference will open soon. In case you have not attended a TODOS conference in the past, we have links for you to peruse the program booklets for the TODOS 2016 Conference and the TODOS 2018 Conference. You'll want to attend many held concurrently! Hope to see you in June in sunny Arizona. The TODOS Preconference begins the morning of June 25th and the Conference opens at 5:00 p.m. on the same day.

TODOS Nominations

Nominations for the office of Director is open with two Directors to be selected. Consider nominating a TODOS member who is qualified to serve a three-year term beginning April 2020 and who will commit to TODOS’ mission and goals. Self-nominations are appropriate and encouraged. Go to the TODOS Handbook for qualifications and leadership responsibilities and to the nomination form for additional information. Deadline is November 22nd. Submit today!

TODOS Podcast Support Solicited

Do you have some tech skills or just some free time? The TODOS Podcast team are looking for volunteers to provide assistance remotely for two to three hours a month to work with the host and producer to clean up and edit audio, and to support short script writing. All work can be done from the comfort of your own laptop. Please complete the following form if you can support TODOS by providing your expertise. Contact Maria Zavala for additional details.  

Giving Tuesday

The TODOS 2019 Giving Tuesday campaign solicits contributions to provide funding of $1,000 for classroom teachers to attend the TODOS 2020 Conference. The conference will equip teachers with ideas and resources to provide all students access to and success in rigorous mathematics, particularly as the sessions will focus on the theme Activating Agency for Student Access, Engagement, and Advancement in Mathematics. Designate your donation to support teachers or to other needs. Contribute now!

Deadline Is November 1st to Apply for $4000

Classroom teachers can apply for the TODOS-MET grant to advance the mathematics education opportunities of Emergent Bilinguals. The proposed project must explicitly support the implementation of equitable and rigorous mathematics teaching that incorporates students’ languages and cultures in their learning of mathematics. Go to the Grant Description for details on eligibility and grant application. Deadline to submit is November 1, 2019.

OCTM Conference Is This Week

The 2019 Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conference held in Sandusky at the Kalahari resort begins later this week. It is not too late to volunteer to staff the TODOS booth. Your presence at the TODOS booth is welcomed, especially since you know many of the conference attendees and can convince them to join TODOS. Your credibility is of great support to TODOS. You can encourage a colleague to join you at the TODOS booth to recruit new members. Sign up now!

Sign Up for CMC-S Conference TODOS Booth

In less than a month, the CMC-South Conference will be held in Palm Springs. This is your opportunity to support TODOS by volunteering at the booth and promoting the mission of TODOS. In addition, you can share your passion for TODOS and inform your friends and colleagues as to why they should join. This year, Susie Hakansson will bring all of her used books (mostly on mathematics education) for anyone to take. Many of the books are almost new. Volunteer now!

TODOS will have an exhibit booth at the CMC-North Conference in Asilomar December 6-8 this year. It's been several years since TODOS has had a booth there. If you plan to attend, consider volunteering to staff the booth and to share your experiences as a TODOS member. You can encourage all of your friends and colleagues to join TODOS and inform them of the benefits of being a TODOS member. You are the best advocates for TODOS. Sign up today!

The Math Teachers’ Circle Network (MTC) has just published their Autumn 2019 MTCircular Magazine. Past issues are also available on the website. MTCs connect teachers and professors through shared mathematical discovery. The MTCircular magazine shares stories and insights from Circles across the country. Sign up for the magazine to be sent to you twice a year.

Postdoctoral Research Associate Position at USD

The position of Postdoctoral Research Associate for “VisMO,” funded by the National Science Foundation and led by Dr. Yaoran Li at the University of San Diego, is open. This project has a focus on English Language Learners (ELLs), so researchers who have the expertise and/or are interested in this student population are welcomed to apply. A Positive Light for Latino Students

Sarahí Monterrey is the 2019 Wisconsin Teacher of the Year, the first Latina to hold this title. Originally from El Salvador, she can relate to her students: “Many of the students I work with are DACA recipients or are undocumented immigrants. I want to be a positive light for students. I want them to feel proud of who they are and where they have come from.” Read her story!

NCTM Elections Are Open

NCTM members will be electing four new Board members to the NCTM Board of Directors this fall. The Board sets the direction, establishes policy, and oversees activities of the council. One candidate from the Central region and three candidates for Director At-Large will be selected. TODOS members on the ballot are: Melissa Boston, Grace Kelemanik, Valerie Mills, and Jennifer Suh for Director At-Large. Vote today!
